UPDATE: Homeless man arrested in Laurel burglaries
Delaware State Police and the Laurel Police Department have identified and arrested a suspect wanted in connection with two burglaries.
Delaware State Police and the Laurel Police Department were investigating commercial burglaries that occurred on April 22 at Reese’s Liquor Store and Exxon. Through investigative measures, police identified 41-year-old Carlton Robinson, formerly of Lake Wales, Florida, but currently homeless, as the suspect.
Robinson was taken into custody on Monday, April 27, and charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of theft under $1,500, two counts of criminal mischief and failure to obey an emergency order. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $3,750 secure bond.
Delaware State Police and Laurel Police Department have identified and arrested, 41-year-old Carlton Robinson, formerly of Lake Wales, Florida, currently reported as homeless, wanted in connection with commercial burglaries.
The Delaware State Police and Laurel Police Department were investigating commercial burglaries that occurred on April 22, 2020. Troopers initially were dispatched at 1:00 a.m. to Reese’s Liquor Store, located at 30231 Sussex Highway, Laurel, for a burglary. At 3:31 a.m., the Laurel Police Department was dispatched to a second burglary, which occurred at Exxon, located in the town limits of Laurel at 30341 Sussex Highway.
Through investigative measures, the two police departments identified Robinson. On April 27, 2020, Robinson was taken into custody by Laurel Police Department. He was transported back to Laurel Police Department where he was charged with the following:
- Burglary 3rd (2 counts)
- Theft Under $1500 (2 counts)
- Criminal Mischief Under $1000 (2 counts)
- Failure to Obey an Emergency Order
Robinson was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $3,750.00 secure bond.
Delaware State Police are asking the public to help identify a suspect in the burglaries of two Laurel businesses.
The incidents both occurred on Wednesday, April 22, during the early morning hours. Reese’s Liquor Store, at 30231 Sussex Highway, was broken into around 1 a.m. Around 3:30 a.m., the Exxon at 30341 Sussex Highway was broke into. Delaware State Police and the Laurel Police Department are working jointly to investigate the burglaries.
The suspect is described as a black male wearing a blue hoodie, blue jeans and a dark blue beanie hat, as seen in the surveillance photo.
