The Cotton Club Quilters of the Dover area recently presented Quilts of Valor to 10 military veterans in honor of their service.
Quilts of Valor is a nonprofit foundation whose goal is to cover service members touched by war with freedom quilts, honoring them for their sacrifices. Members of Cotton Club meet at the Magnolia Fire Hall and donate their time and materials to make quilts collaboratively. The group is a “Quilting Bee” and an extension to Helping Hands Quilt Guild of Dover.
The Guild holds an annual Quilts of Valor ceremony in August honoring veterans. Recipients are Frank J. Roberts, Richard Lee Stewart, Johnathan R. Andrews, George Dorylis, Ronald Siebach, Roland Lima, Dan Sloan, Gary Coy, Charlie Grant and John Gordon Blythe. The group served in the various branches of the military and includes two veterans from World War II.
