David D. Smith, 29, of Camden was arrested Sept. 4.
Troopers arrested David D. Smith, 29, for the Aug. 28 burglary of a Camden home Wednesday.
Several tools were stolen from the home in the 100 block of Lucks Drive, police said.
Police identified Smith as a suspect and found that he pawned several of the stolen tools at a local pawn shop.
Smith was taken into custody without incident, transported to Troop 3 and charged with: burglary second degree, theft, selling stolen property and falsifying business records.
Smith was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and issued a $5,500 cash only bond.
Before being transported to the Sussex Correctional Institution, police said Smith complained of medical problems and was transported to the Bayhealth Kent General Hospital for an evaluation. While at the hospital, Smith fled from police custody. With the help from the Smyrna Police Department K9 Unit, Smith was found a short distance away on the hospital grounds.
Smith was subsequently charged with escape second degree and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on an additional $2,000 secured bond.
