Dover Capital City Rotarian Kirill Alekseyev and fiancée Sophia Ali visited Thailand in June, taking time to visit a local Rotary Club and learn about their support of a community-based clinic that provides and advocates for an essential health system, education and protection for vulnerable and displaced people living in the Thai-Burma/Myanmar border area and Eastern Myanmar.

Mae Tao Clinic was founded in 1989 and is based in Mae Sot, Western Thailand, on the border with Myanmar. The clinic serves a population of around 150,000 people sheltered in Myanmar's mountainous south-eastern border region and, more recently, the growing amount of undocumented Burmese migrant workers in Thailand who live in and around Mae Sot.

Alekseyev is medical director Dover’s Post Acute Medical Hospital 1240 McKee Road, which opened in February and specializes in rehabilitation.

Dover Capital City Rotary meets each Thursday for lunch at Maple Dale Country Club, 180 Mapledale Road, Dover.
