The man was assaulted after a woman asked him for money

A man is reporting he was beaten and his money stolen during a strong-arm robbery over the weekend.

Dover Police Department spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said the incident took place at about 1:45 p.m. Sunday, April 21, in the area of South Queen and West Reed Streets.

The man said he was walking in the area when a woman came up to him and asked for some money. As he took out his wallet, he was jumped by five other men who beat him and then took the wallet, fleeing with the cash inside.

The victim refused medical treatment, Hoffman said.

The woman was described as black and wearing red pants and a white shirt with black stripes. The men only were described as being black, Hoffman said.
