George F. Thompson, 95, was hurt in a March 7 crash; he died March 11.
A Dover man, injured in a single vehicle traffic crash, has died.
Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe the crash occurred at about 10:36 a.m. Thursday, March 7.
The victim is identified as 95-year-old George F. Thompson.
The crash took place as Thompson was driving a 2005 Malibu on Del. Route 1 north of the Exit 93 northbound onramp. The vehicle was in the dedicated exit lane when Thompson suddenly turned to the left and back into the lane of travel, across the left lane and onto a paved median. The car hit a concrete jersey barrier separating the two lanes of the highway, Jaffe said.
Thompson, who was wearing a seat belt, was responsive when reached after the crash, she added. He was taken to the Kent Campus of the Bayhealth Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries Monday, March 11.
The roadway was closed for about two hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
The accident continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
