Dover police are investigating an apparent suicide.
Dover police have confirmed the case of an apparent suicide found Tuesday morning.
Department spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said officers were sent to a parking lot inside Dover’s Schutte Park at about 9:08 a.m. Dec. 4 after receiving reports about a body being found.
Police arrived at the parking area near the south softball fields to find the remains of a 26-year-old man along with evidence he had died as a result of suicide.
Hoffman was unaware of who found the man's body, which was discovered outside his vehicle.
He declined to release additional information or to provide the individual’s name out of respect for the deceased man's family.
This was the second apparent suicide this year to occur within city limits. In September 2018, a 41-year-old man killed himself at the Cedar Chase apartment complex after he held off police in a barricade situation.
