Titus Rodriquez also was wanted by Dover police

A Dover man has been jailed after his arrest on charges he tried to steal money from a restaurant in the Rodney Village Shopping Center.

Delaware State Police spokeswoman Sgt. Richard Bratz identified the suspect as Titus A. Rodriguez, 46.

The incident began at about 8:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Pizzeria and Taqueria Porta Bella Restaurant when Rodriguez allegedly went up to the front register, reached around the counter and grabbed the tip jar. Restaurant employees seized and held him until troopers arrived, Bratz said.

The cash was recovered and the employees reported no injuries, he added.

Troopers also learned Rodriguez was wanted on a $5,000 cash bond warrant in connection for failure to appear for a different robbery case.

Bratz said Rodriguez is charged with second-degree attempted robbery and attempt to commit theft; he was ordered held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $4,000 secured bond.
