The owner apparently ran away after the car was hit by gunfire

Dover police are looking for the owner of a car found Friday night with a bullet hole in the door.

Dover Police Department spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said that at 8:50 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, officers went to a parking lot in the 100 block of Willis Road to investigate a report about shots having been fired.

Once there, they found a white Chevrolet Caprice abandoned on the sidewalk with a single bullet hole in the passenger-side door and the front passenger window having been shot out.

The occupant apparently had fled on foot, leaving the vehicle behind, Hoffman said.

Police checked the surrounding area as well as local hospitals and medical centers for potential victims but found no one, he added.

Police are continuing their investigation; anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Dover police at 736-7111. Tips may be left anonymously.
