Bayhealth announced the Wound Care Center at Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus, received the Robert A. Warriner III, MD, Center of Excellence Award for 2017 by Healogics Inc.
This is the center’s first time receiving the Center of Excellence honor after previously being named a Center of Distinction in past years.
“This is a great accomplishment for our center. It took the entire Wound Care Center team to achieve this. This shows our dedication to patient outcomes and quality care,” said Wound Care Director Julie Willey. “This is a goal we set when I first came here as clinical coordinator. We come in each day and work diligently to help our patients and have seen positive results.”
The Wound Care Center, which has a second location at Bayhealth Milford Memorial, is one of 268 centers to receive the honor; 340 of Healogics 700 centers were eligible. The award is named after Robert A. Warriner III, a pioneer in wound care and the former chief medical officer for Healogics.
To receive the award, a center must achieve patient satisfaction rates higher than 92 percent and a healing rate of at least 91 percent in less than 30 median days to heal for at least two years. The 2017 numbers from the Wound Care Center at the Kent Campus are a 95 percent patient satisfaction rate, a 94 percent healing rate and a 28-day median heal rate
Team members work to heal a variety of wounds including diabetic, neuropathic, ischemic, and pressure ulcers. They’re also able to treat traumatic and surgical wounds, and burns and open skin irritations.
