Delaware State Police have made an arrest after the suspect in a Camden burglary surrendered to police.
Adelio A. Guzman, 45, of Camden, was taken into custody Oct. 12, division spokeswoman Melissa Jaffe said.
The shooting took place at about 9:37 .m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at a home on Pony Track Road, Camden, Jaffe said. The investigation showed Guzman went onto the property without permission and went inside a barn. The homeowners were made aware of the intrusion when an alarm went off.
The homeowners, a 73-year-old man and his 65-year-old wife, went out to the barn, discovered Guzman there and the man fired at least one shot at him.
Responding troopers found Guzman suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower body; Guzman was taken to a local hospital for treatment and discharged Oct. 11. He surrendered to state police the next day at Troop 3.
attempting to commit/or engaging in any sexual act involving an animal, two counts of third-degree burglary, three counts of first-degree criminal trespass. attempting to commit cruelty to animals by killing or injuring another person’s animals without consent, cruelty to animals by killing or injuring another person’s animal without consent, and criminal mischief.
Guzman was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and later released from custody on an $11,750 unsecured bone.
This case continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Criminal Investigative Unit, Jaffe said.
