Mayor Robin R. Christiansen is encouraging the public to enjoy Silver Lake during the Mayor’s Canoe and Kayak Regatta, set for 9 to 11 a.m. Oct. 20, as part of the Dover’s Open Streets program.

Those with canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, inflatables, sailboats, row and peddle boats are encouraged to participate. There will be certificates and a small prize for the first 50 people. Bring boats, paddles and life jackets to join in a floating parade to the Silver Lake Bridge area and back.

Vessels will launch at 9 a.m. from the Washington Street entrance beach area.

Participants will have the lake licensing fee waived. Participants will receive a certificate signed by the mayor.

This is a family-friendly activity hosted by Mayor Christiansen, the Silver Lake Commission and the Parks & Recreation Department in partnership with Open Streets.
