The Kent County Public Library, 497 S. Red Haven Lane, Dover, will offer a lineup of Halloween-related programs and events during October.

Programs are free and open to the public; registration is required as noted.

— A Haunting in Long Neck, Delaware with the Delaware Paranormal Research Group: 6 p.m. Oct. 17. Ages 16 and older. Robin Strom-Mackey, director of the Delaware Paranormal Research Group, will take guests through the events preceding the team’s involvement and subsequent investigation into the hauntings in a home in Long Neck with photos, audio recordings and testimonials. Strom-Mackey will have copies of her books available for purchase and signing after the presentation. Limited space; registration is required.

— Delmarva’s Best Ghost Stories: 2 p.m. Oct. 20. Noted Delmarva historian, author Ed Okonowicz will share ghost stories and legends from across Delaware and Maryland’s eastern shore, including tales of Bigg Lizz, Patty Cannon, Woodburn, Fiddler’s Bridge, Fort Delaware and the Cape May-Lewes Ferry phantoms.

— Literary Pumpkin Decorating Contest: Decorate a small- or medium-craft pumpkin — no real pumpkins — to look like a favorite book character. Bring creations to the library from 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 22. Include a 3-by-5-inch card with name, phone number and the character or book name. Pumpkins will be displayed in the library until Oct. 25 when the winners will be announced.
