Col. Joel W. Safranek, commander, Dover Air Force Base 436th Airlift Wing, and Wing Command Master Chief Anthony Green addressed Dover Capital City Rotary Club's luncheon meeting held Aug. 30 at Maple Dale Country Club.

They discussed the multiple airlift operations at the base and their worldwide role. Safranek, who has led the 436th Airlift Wing since May, emphasized his assignment to Dover as an affirmation of the many positive things he'd heard about the outstanding relationship between the base and community. As commander, he is responsible for a combined C-5 and C-17 wing providing worldwide movement of high-priority personnel and cargo. Dover AFB is home to Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations, the Department of Defense’s largest aerial port and the Air Mobility Command Museum.
