A Dover man was shot in the face and head Thursday while jogging in The Hamlet.
The shooting took place at about 11:30 a.m. June 7 as the 21-year-old man was on Village Drive, Dover Police Department spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said.
The man was headed back to his home to get cash to pay a tab at Tom’s Bullpen in The Hamlet shopping center when a vehicle drove up from behind him, Hoffman said. He was shot with birdshot fired by a person hanging out of the passenger window, leaving several small pellets in his head and face.
The jogger has been treated at Bayhealth Hospital Kent Campus for non-life-threatening injuries. A home on Village Drive also was hit by the shot, causing minor damage.
Police are continuing their investigation; anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Dover police at 736-7130. Tips may be left anonymously.
