The victim suffered a cut lip after being hit in the face with a handgun.

Dover police officers are investigating an early morning armed robbery apparently committed by four boys.

Department spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said the incident took place at about 2:18 a.m. Saturday, April 28 when the victim, a 50-year man was in the area of South New and West Division streets.

The man said four black teenagers came up to him and one hit him in the face with a handgun. The boys chased the victim as he tried to run away, but took his red backpack containing a number of personal items.

The man was uninjured except for a cut on his lip.

Police are continuing their investigation; anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Dover police at 736-7130. Tips may be left anonymously.
