Delaware Citizen Corps, Independent Resources Inc., the Modern Maturity Center and the Division of Public Health Office of Preparedness are partnering to hold a community preparedness workshop for seniors and people with disabilities from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 16 at the Modern Maturity Center, 1121 Forrest Ave., Dover.

The workshop is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to talk with preparedness partner exhibitors while enjoying the complimentary continental breakfast items.

The goal of this workshop is to better equip seniors and people with disabilities with knowledge to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies at home and disasters in their communities.

Speakers will include trainers from the Office of Preparedness and Delaware Citizen Corps as well as a specialist from the Delaware Assistive Technology Initiative. The workshop will also feature several interactive components focusing on how to make a plan, create a kit and learn about fire safety. In addition, a raffle will be held at the end of the workshop for a variety of preparedness items.
