Holy Cross School students recently won eight awards in art and one award in writing in the 2018 National Scholastic Art and Writing Competition for the state of Delaware.
Gold key winners from Holy Cross are eighth-graders Sydney Horton for her art piece “Maiden Voyage” in the fashion category, Rachel Mackie for her art piece “Distorted Reality” in the sculpture category and Peter Randazzo for his art piece “The Next Move” in the editorial cartoon category; and seventh-grader Katie Dunkle for her art piece “Trapped by My Emotions” in the jewelry category.
Silver key winners are eighth-graders Maria Granitto for her art piece “Teenage Mentality” in the comic art category, Leilani Anupol for her art piece “Splitin” the painting category, Rachel Mackie for her art piece “The Abstract Dog Process” in the painting category and Hannah Beattie for her writing piece “Two Wiser Men” in the short story category.
Holy Cross’ honorable mention winner is seventh-grader Jordan Papa for his art piece “American Prayer” in the mixed media category.
The gold and silver key medalists are honored with an exhibit at Delaware State University’s Art Center. The exhibit will run from through Feb. 10. The gold key medalists will move on to the national competition in Washington, D.C.
