Some fun First State events to dive into this weekend

1. An array of colorful pop tunes seduces listeners at Rubix Kube shows.

The ‘80s tribute band is led by a male and female dynamic duo of chameleons, able to transform in the blink of an eye into the voice and character of any ‘80s icon.

It’s like Madonna, Michael Jackson, Cher, Prince, Devo, Bon Jovi, Guns N’ Roses, and more are performing right in front of you.

The duo’s supporting sidekicks are all decked out in vibrant, vintage ‘80s threads and enough hairspray to take down Freddy Krueger and The Terminator.

Rubix Kube will perform at the Smyrna Opera House, 7 W. South St., Smyrna at 8 p.m., Friday. COST $20. INFO or 653-4236.

2. Mentalist the Amazing Kreskin has remained noteworthy for minding other people’s business, and doing it well.

Kreskin has, for six decades, dramatized the many facets of the human mind. His name has become an integral part of pop culture throughout the world.

Actor/producer Tom Hanks released the feature film ‘The Great Buck Howard” (2009). It was announced at the end of the dramedy that the inspiration for the main character was The Amazing Kreskin. That character is played by the star, John Malkovich.

The Amazing Kreskin will bring his cerebral talents to the Milton Theater, 110 Union St., Milton at 2 p.m., Saturday. COST $20 to $30; guests will also receive a free wristband to the Milton Zombie Fest Saturday, from noon to 10 p.m. INFO or 684-3038.

3. The hero Paris needs (but not the one it deserves) is “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.”

The musical follows the deformed Quasimodo, who’s been treated cruelly by gypsies, with the exception of the lovely Esmeralda. When an evil man plots to destroy the gypsies, it’s up to Quasimodo to save the day.

The musical will be performed at the Everett Theatre, 47 W. Main St., Middletown at 7:30 p.m., Friday; and at 2 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. COST $18 adults; $15 seniors and students; $10 ages 12 and younger. INFO or 232-6338.
