Dover police are conducting investigations into two recent burglaries.

Dover Police Department spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said the first took place sometime between 6 and 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19 at an unoccupied home in the 100 block of Upland Avenue.

Upon returning, the owner noticed a rear window screen had been cut, Hoffman said; the burglar took money from a bedroom and fled.

The second occurred at 1:21 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 21 at the Wesley College Chapel at 3 N. Bradford St.

Hoffman said a 23-year-old woman was in the basement when someone forced in a piece of plywood that had covered a window in the room. The woman ran into a nearby hallway to call police, but the burglar fled after stealing a laptop.

Anyone with information on these crimes is asked to call Dover police at 736-7111. Callers may remain anonymous. Tips also may be submitted through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333, online at or through the Dover Police Department MyPD app.
