Three people have been arrested by Dover police on drug and firearms charges.

Department spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman identified the trio as Anthony Clark, 18, Brentney Birkett, 23, and Michael Taylor, 19.

The three were contacted during a Sept. 19 traffic stop in the area of South Saulsbury Road and West North Street after they were seen leaving an apartment on Par Haven Drive. During the stop, officers discovered Birkett was carrying 1.5 grams of marijuana; Clark was found in possession of 124 bags of heroin, Hoffman said. Nothing was found on Taylor, however, a later search of the apartment turned up a loaded .380 handgun belonging to him.

All three were arrested without incident.

Clark, of Frederica, is charged with possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Illegal Gang Participation. He was jailed at the Vaughn Correctional Center on a $13,200 secured bond.

Birkett is charged with possession of Marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia; bond information was not revealed.

Taylor, of Dover, is charged with illegal gang participation and possession of a firearm/ammunition by a person prohibited. He later was released on a $23,000 unsecured bond.

Delaware Probation and Parole officers took part in the investigation and arrests, Hoffman said.
