Harrington police have arrested a Felton man after he allegedly hit two parked cars.

The incident took place Thursday, May 18 in the parking lot of the Liberty Plaza shopping center, department spokesman Capt. Earl Brode said.

Police on patrol were dispatched to the area to investigate a vehicle crash when they learned two vehicles had been hit and that the driver appeared to be intoxicated.

Arriving on the scene, officers found Christopher J. Russum, 31, of the 1600 block of Upper King Road, Felton. Determining he was the driver and only occupant of the vehicle, they administered standard sobriety tests and took Russum into custody.

A search of the vehicle also turned up items of drug paraphernalia, Brode said.

A computer check showed Russum was driving on a suspended license and had four DUI convictions dating to  2003.

Russum is charged with a fifth offense of driving under the influence of alcohol,  possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended or revoked and several other traffic violations. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, in default of a $6,203 secured bond.
