Dover police are investigating the second incidence of a person being wounded by gunfire in two days.

Dover Police Department spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said the incident took place at 9:27 p.m. Wednesday, May 17 in the 200 block of North New Street.

Police went to the area after receiving reports of gunfire, but while they were on the scene a 22-year-old man came into the Bayhealth Hospital-Kent Campus with a gunshot wound to his hand and a graze wound to his head.

He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Hoffman said.

A similar incident took place May 15, when a man was shot on South New Street; he also was treated at the Bayhealth Hospital.
