UPDATE: National Weather Service: Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 7 p.m. The National Weather Service has its eyes peeled for strong winds and downpours tonight. Higher risk of severe weather to the west and northwest.
The biggest threats will be damaging wind gusts in excess of 60 mph, deadly and damaging cloud-to-ground lightning, and poor drainage flooding. Large hail ≥ 1 inch in diameter and isolated tornadoes are also possible.
Isolated thunderstorms may develop late this morning through early this afternoon (roughly 9 am-1 pm). The primary threat from these storms will be small hail and heavy rain.
There is a potential for one or two organized lines of strong to severe thunderstorms to move through the region late this afternoon (3-6 pm) and/or this evening (6-11 pm) The primary threats with these storms will be damaging winds, deadly and damaging lightning, and heavy rain. Isolated tornadoes and hail are also possible.
