A 13-year-old was beaten and robbed over the weekend while walking through the parking lot of a local store.

Dover Police Department spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said the crime took place at about 7:42 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4 at the Dollar Tree store at 261 N. Dupont Highway.

The teen told police he was jumped by two men who hit him in the head and torso, knocked him to the ground and stole his money. The two ran off toward the south, Hoffman said.

The victim, with his parents’ consent, did not seek medical treatment.

Both suspects were black men, Hoffman said. One was wearing light-colored jeans, a black jacket, white T-shirt and black shoes. The second was wearing black jeans and a white, hooded sweatshirt.

The investigation is ongoing, Hoffman said. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Dover police at 736-7130. Callers may remain anonymous.
