Holy Cross School took part in Pinwheels for Peace, an international art and literacy project, Sept. 21 by planting pinwheels with messages of peace on school grounds.

Students in grades prekindergarten through eighth grade created pinwheels and wrote thoughts about topics such as war and peace, tolerance and living in harmony with others on one side of the pinwheel. They visually represented the thoughts on the pinwheel’s other side with drawings or paintings.

Pinwheels for Peace is an art installation project started in 2005 by two art teachers, Ann Ayers and Ellen McMillan, of Coconut Creek, Florida, as a way for students to express their feelings about world happenings and their lives.
