A 44-year-old Smyrna man and a 40-year-old man from Dover were arrested last Friday in connection with the theft of two boats in Milford earlier this month.

Kevin M. Schilling, of Smyrna, and James P. McCann, from Dover, were arrested by DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Natural Resources Police officers, DNREC spokesman Cpl. John McDerby said.

The theft of the 12-foot aluminum duck boats occurred Feb. 3 on private property off New Wharf Road in Milford and was captured on surveillance video, McDerby said.

As of Feb. 16, neither of the stolen vessels has been located. One of the two boats displays Maryland registration MD 9868 AV; the other is described as a green aluminum duck boat, he added.

Schilling and McCann are charged with one count each of felony theft, trespassing and conspiracy.

Both were jailed at the Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, in lieu of $1,100 cash bond each, pending trial at a later date.

Anyone with information on this incident or the whereabouts of the two stolen vessels is asked to contact Cpl. Nathan Evans of Fish & Wildlife Enforcement at (800) 523-3336.
