A Felton man received a 44-year prison term Wednesday for sexual crimes against children.
Stephen M. Parsons, 26, of Vineyard Lane, Felton, was sentenced Oct. 29.
Stephen M. Parsons, 26, pleaded guilty in September to one count of first-degree rape, one count of sexual exploitation of a child and two counts of dealing child pornography, according to Delaware Department of Justice spokesman Joe Rogalsky.
Parsons was initially was arrested on the child pornography charges in March.
However, investigators later found evidence that he had sexually abused a young child in his care and taken pornographic pictures of his victim.
The 44-year sentence handed down by Kent County Superior Court Judge Robert B. Young this week was more than twice the 21-year minimum jail term Parsons had been facing.
“This predator is the worst of the worst,” Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden said in a press release issued Thursday. “He will no longer be able to harm children. This case shows why Delaware needs police and prosecutors working side by side to track down and stop those want to hurt our kids.”
