A 19-year-old New Castle man is wanted by police in connection with the theft of nearly $4,000 worth of jackets from Dick’s Sporting Goods in the Dover Mall earlier this month.

Stephon Rivera and another man entered the store just after 2 p.m. on Oct. 17 when an employee recognized the teen from the Dover Police Department’s weekly posting of mug shots from various shoplifting arrests, according to department spokesman Cpl. Mark Hoffman.

Rivera appeared on the posting following his arrest in connection with a shoplifting case reported at Kohel’s department store.

An employee reportedly offered to assist Rivera and the other man, but was rebuffed, Hoffman said.

Soon thereafter, Rivera and his companion allegedly removed 30 Northface jackets, collectively valued at $3,957, from the store and fled in a silver Honda.

Anyone with information about the Rivera’s whereabouts or the identity of his alleged accomplice is asked to call the Dover Police Department at 736-7111.
