The U.S. Commerce Economic Development Administration is awarding a three year $500,000 grant to Delaware State University’s Center for Economic Development and International Trade program. The purpose of the grant is to uncover resources in the Virgin Islands that will support an integrated workforce and economic development initiatives.
Michael H. Casson is director for UCEDIT and an associate professor of economics at DSU. As principal investigator, he will lead the effort by assessing the human, financial, institutional, and natural impacts on the island’s economic prosperity. Once assessments are complete the center can better understand the cultural attitudes that shape the regional economy.
