A Magnolia-area woman has been treated for non-life-threatening injuries following a reported Monday morning assault in her Meadowbrook Acres home.
Delaware State Police troopers went to the home after a 911 call was received at about 1:30 a.m. Sept. 15, said division spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier.
The 27-year-old victim, who lives in the 100 block of Flint Drive, told troopers she had been sleeping with her 5-year-old daughter when she was abruptly awakened by a man choking her.
The woman said she fought the unknown attacker until her daughter woke up, possibly scaring him off.
She then contacted law enforcement from a neighbor’s home.
The woman was slightly injured in the attack and was taken to a local hospital where she was treated and released. The woman’s daughter was not hurt, Fournier said.
The suspect was described only as a man standing about 6 feet tall, wearing a dark colored baseball cap and sweatshirt.
