Investigators with the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office are asking the public for information regarding a 2012 residential arson near Dover.

The fire was reported shortly before 8 p.m. Dec. 15, 2012, said Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael G. Chionchio.

The blaze took place in the first block of Stuart Drive, in the Penn Wood development, Chionchio said. It was extinguished by the Camden-Wyoming Fire Company and resulted in $25,000 damage.

There were no injuries.

Fire investigators ruled the fire was purposefully started after someone had taken items from the home; it is believed the blaze was intended to cover up the theft, Chionchio said.

Deputy fire marshals have been working on investigative leads and need anyone with information about this arson to called the State Fire Marshal’s office at (302) 739-4447 or Crime Stoppers at (800) TIP-3333.  Callers may remain anonymous.
