Detectives with the Delaware State Police have accused a Magnolia man, identified as Jimmie L. Underwood, 22, with sexual assault following a March 30 incident.
The alleged occurrence took place at a home in the 100 block of West Cherry Drive, Magnolia, said police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier.
According to investigators, the 15-year-old victim was attending a sleepover at the home of a female friend. The girl was watching a movie with her friend and Underwood when he allegedly made inappropriate advances and physical contact with her.
The girl left the home and notified her mother, who called police, Fournier said.
Underwood was taken into custody without incident at a home on Horsepond Road, Felton. He was charged with second-degree rape and committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center, Smyrna, in lieu of a $20,000 secured bond.
Because of the sensitivity of this case, and in consideration of the victim, only limited information will be released, Fournier said.
