The Caesar Rodney Riders girls’ soccer team is off to a nice start to the 2014 season improving their record to 2-0 after a dominating 9-0 victory over Sussex Central on Friday afternoon.

The Lady Riders dominated from the opening whistle jumping all over the Golden Knights before they knew what had hit them.  Senior Alexa Faulmino broke through just 4:08 into the contest for the first of her four goals on the afternoon to give the Riders an early 1-0 lead.

Just over a minute later the Riders would strike again when Grace Wilt set up Cassidy Ramsey nicely on the doorstep putting CR up 2-0 less than six minutes into the game.

Wasting little time, Caesar Rodney continued the onslaught scoring again nearly a minute later as Faulmino tallied her second goal set up by Rachel Smith at 6:56 and CR led 3-0 in a blink of an eye.

Keeping the theme alive, the Lady Riders waited just over a minute to find the back of the net once again when Faulmino scored her second goal in a row, and third of the game, thanks to a Haley Prillaman setup and trouncing was on.

Faulmino would add another goal, as would Lexi Prillaman and Aleya Cummings before the first half was through and the Lady Riders led Sussex Central 8-0 at the break.

With the dogs called off in the second half, the Riders would find the back of the net once more when Haley Prillaman got on the scoreboard off a Faulmino assist.

While the Riders toned down their offense in the second half, the defense didn’t take a break. Caesar Rodney out-shot the Golden Knights 30-0 allowing zero Golden Knight chances toward their goal.

Throughout the tough match up for Sussex Central, the goalkeeping tandem of Smack and Hung did their best to keep the Rider offense at bay combining to make 14 saves in the loss.

The Golden Knights look to rebound this week hosting Cape Henlopen on Tuesday and Dover on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, the red-hot Lady Riders will travel to Sussex Tech on Tuesday night before hosting St. Mark’s on Thursday night.
