The special Dover City Council meeting, called as a forum between council presidency candidates David Bonar and Sean Lynn has been cancelled.

The special Dover City Council meeting called for May 6 has been cancelled.

A spokeswoman for the Dover city clerk's office said the meeting, which was to be a forum to allow council members to decide who would serve as council president for the 2013-2014 session, was called off because Third District council member Sean Lynn withdrew his candidacy.

Lynn's withdrawal leaves fellow Third District Councilman David L. Bonar as the only declared candidate.

The council presidency is open due to the retirement of current president Thomas Leary.
