Where else can you find an affordable, fashionable outfit from head to toe where all the proceeds are donated to a worthy cause? Try DBCC’s Great Stuff, an upscale resale shop and fundraising venture by the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition’s.

The boutique is celebrating its one-year anniversary this October, which features quality designer women’s clothing and accessories as well as home furnishings and accent pieces, at a fraction of the original price.

DBCC’s Great Stuff, located in the Talleyville Center off of Silverside Road and Concord Pike, donates all its proceeds from sales at the shop to help fund DBCC’s breast health programs and services throughout Delaware.

DBCC’s Great Stuff is the result of “outside the box” thinking by DBCC Board Member Stacey Bacchieri and members of the Greenville Giving Group.  After they presented the idea to the DBCC Board, the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition hired Dale Maahs of North Wilmington to manage the shop. Maahs has a background in retail and retail management.  She is the former owner of Dale’s Shoetique of Greenville Crossing and Dale’s Avenue Boutique in Wilmington.

“People donate because they believe in the cause so much,” Maahs said. Volunteers, who said they have been overwhelmed by the acceptance by the community, staff the store. “Everybody shops comes here to shop, but those with cancer can shop here and get support,” Maahs said.

All proceeds from the shop benefit DBCC’s programs, which work to increase breast cancer awareness, promote the importance of early detection, provide access to mammograms, and provide support and resources to women and men of Delaware who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.

“Our customers will be looking and feeling good from the inside out,” said Maahs, “because the designer resale shop is a charitable venture.  Our vision is to be the area’s premier resale boutique, to enlighten people to the issue of breast cancer, and to provide them with a way to join in the fight against breast cancer – by donating to, or shopping at, the boutique.”

Sallie Floyd of Wilmington said she loves to shop at Great Stuff for many reasons.

“I love the price, the quality and the variety. It is a one-stop-shop,” Floyd said.

“We hope our resale shop supporters will feel the intrinsic rewards of donating items and shopping here, and help us make a regular along your shopping route,” Maahs said.
