Mrs. Sacra died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011.
Born July 4, 1944, in Missouri, she was the youngest and last of seven children, and was proud of her Cherokee Indian heritage. Delaware became her home in 1952, where she lived in the Wilmington area and raised her family.
Mrs. Sacra worked for 18 years at Delaware State Hospital as a telephone operator. After retirement, she resided at Luther Towers in Dover, until her failing health required her to stay at Pinnacle Rehabilitation and Nursing Home.
She enjoyed cooking, playing the piano, music, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and was known as Mom-Mom to many others. During her last months, she became increasingly more thankful and content in life, and will be sadly missed by many.
Mrs. Sacra is survived by her oldest son, James W. Sacra and his wife Sandy of Millersville, Md.; her youngest son, Bob Sacra and his wife Debbie of Dover; nine grandchildren, LCDR Christopher Sacra, currently stationed in Hamburg, Germany, CPT Matthew Sacra and his wife Becky, currently transitioning from Ft. Ripley, Kan., to Ft. Lee, Va., Elijah Sacra of Baltimore, Md., Aaron Sacra and his wife Danielle of Jupiter, Fla., Leah Sacra of Virginia Beach, Va., Issac Sacra and his wife Maria of Dover, James Sacra and his wife Roshini of Dover, Alta Sacra of Youngstown, Ohio, and Bobby Sacra of Virginia Beach, Va.; and eight great-grandchildren.
