Paul Joseph Bastian, 74, of Dover, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at home.

  Paul Joseph Bastian, 74, of Dover, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at home.

  Born Oct. 4, 1934, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Harry Bastian Jr. and Hanna Revel Bastian.

    Mr. Bastian was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars, and retired in 1984 at the rank of senior master sergeant. He was a member of the Union Lodge AF&AM, Dover, a 32nd-degree Mason, a member of the Shriners, Knights Templar, Tall Cedars, Past Grand Tall Cedars, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the DelVets and the Walter L. Fox American Legion Post No. 2, Dover, where he served on the memorial team honor guard.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy M. Bastian, and his second wife, AnnMarie Bastian, both of whom succumbed to cancer; and by his brother, Harry Bastian III.

    Mr. Bastian is survived by his wife, Shirley Bastian of Dover; two sons and their wives, Paul J. Jr. and Patti Bastian of Abington, Pa., and Frank Harry and Anastasia Bastian of Warminster, Pa; his grandchildren, Shannon and Leah, and Brennen and Makara; a great-granddaughter, Lena Mae Warren; and a stepson, Mark A. Huffman.

    Interment was in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.

    Arrangements were by Torbert Funeral Chapels, Dover.
