Downtown Dover Partnership enlisted the help of local artists to beautify downtown and raise money for the organization. Artists designed more than 40 stars, and now are auctioning them off. The public is welcome to meet the artists and bid on stars at Friday’s reception at the Dover Art League.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
1 The project
The Downtown Dover Partnership invited artists of all manner to design the stars that have now been hanging in downtown venues. The stars are roughly 24 inches in diameter and were painted and decorated in various themes related to downtown Dover.

2 The artists
Participating artists include Diane Bauer, Russ Dion, Rosetta Roach, Alisa Kaiser, Jamie Suloff, Nancy Galvin, Steph Harmon, Nina Campanicki, Michele Stone, Linda Chatfield, N. Taylor Collins, Mary Lou Sinzinger, Arlene Stackwell, Keith Steckke, Maggi Vrem, Katja Lackey, Kathy Lord, Todd Weller, Rachel Frebert, Linda Karlover, Linda Fitzgerald, Melissa Fitzgerald, Diane Frebert, Ann Baker Horsey, Sheila Mann, Nancy Schroeck, Bonnie Voshell, Helene Scholler-Altevogt, Delaware Veterans Home, Susan Johnston, Sophie Malenfant, Lila Snader, Robin Starr, Destiny (Desi) Steele, Leonardo Marcano Aranguren, Barbara Reynolds, Campus Community High School Art Club and Griffin Wade.

3 The auction
Members of the community can bid on the one-of-a-kind stars at Friday’s reception. Silent bidding will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. followed by an awards ceremony to announce the winning artists at 7 p.m. A live auction of select stars will be conducted by Blue Hen Antiques auctioneer Eric Wilke.

WHY YOU SHOULD GO
Proceeds from the auction will be shared between the artists and the DDP.
