Grace C. Matthews, 95, Dover, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Capital Nursing Center Dover.
She was born on May 17, 1916 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Louis and Almira Frink Clayton.
She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Dover, and The Auxiliary Gideon’s International. She was a Gray Lady Vol. at Air Force base hospitals where her husband was station. She was a Girl Scout Leader. She was a Sunday School teacher and superintendent at several churches. She worked at Boulevard Electric and was a supporter at the DAFB Air Museum. She did Missionary Aviation Fellowship support. She and her husband did real estate work and helped a lot of people at Peninsula Realty in Dover. She would send in letters to the editor, call into Sound Off and Speak Your Peace.
She is preceded in death by her husband Major Durward Matthews.
She is survived by daughter, Almira Jones of Camano Island, WA.
Remembrance Services were held Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 1:30 p.m. at Trader Funeral Home in Dover, DE.
Burial was at the Odd Fellows Cemetery Camden, DE
Friends called Tuesday 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Trader Funeral Home in Dover.
