Golf tourney to benefit breast cancer research
The 11th Annual Pink Ribbon Championship to benefit the American Cancer Society’s breast cancer research, patient services and other programs will be Friday, June 26, at Wild Quail Golf and Country Club, Wyoming.
The scramble-format tournament is designed to help the estimated 570 women that will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, and the 110 that will die from the disease.

ZUMBA fitness classes begin June 29 at Pitts
The city of Dover Parks and Recreation Department is offering a ZUMBA fitness class from 5:10 to 5:55 p.m. Mondays, June 29, to Aug. 3, at the John W. Pitts Recreation Center, Dover.
ZUMBA fuses Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a dynamic fitness program, which helps burn calories and energize the body.

Parks and rec offers youth soccer skills camp
The city of Dover Parks and Recreation Department is offering Learn-N-Play Soccer Skills for ages 3 to 5 from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Tuesdays, June 30, to July 21, at the John W. Pitts Recreation Center, Dover.
The classes will introduce the fundamental skills of soccer, including passing, ball control, dribbling and shooting. Drills and games will be used to teach these skills.
The activity fee is $18, and participants are encouraged to wear sneakers and comfortable clothing.

Center of Attention to provide lunch hour fitness opportunity
The city of Dover Parks and Recreation Department is offering Center of Attention from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 30, to July 23, at the John W. Pitts Recreation Center, Dover.
The 45-minute class, instructed by Crystal Nagyiski, will help participants strengthen and tone muscles, and includes muscle-specific exercises, abdominal work and stretching.
The activity fee is $25. Participants should bring dumbbells, a mat and water.

All-sports camp designed to teach kids ages 6 to 12
The city of Dover Parks and Recreation Department will host a Youth All-Sports Camp from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, June 29, to Thursday, July 2, at the John W. Pitts Recreation Center, Dover.
The camp, for boys and girls ages 6 to 12, will cover the introductory fundamentals for sports like basketball, soccer, baseball, football and more.
Participants can expect skill development in throwing, catching and kicking using drills, games and activities.
The camp fee is $30.

Low putts match at Wild Quail goes to Sterling
The Wild Quail 9-hole Ladies played a Low Putts game June 17, at Wild Quail Golf and Country Club, Wyoming.
Pat Sterling finished in first place with 16 total putts.
Jonathan’s Landing ladies play in NOSE tournament
The Jonathan’s Landing Ladies Day tournament participated in a NOSE format match June 17, at Jonathan’s Landing Golf Course, Magnolia.
The tournament counts the holes that begin with the letters N, O, S or E.
The winners were: Towar Whitehead, first flight; Leah Wheeler, Barb Miller and Georgia Van Sant, tied for second flight; and Joyce Bush, third flight.
Rennie shoots 32, takes first for MMC golf group
The Modern Maturity Center Garrison Lake golf group played a Blind Calloway tournament June 15, at Garrison’s Lake Golf Course, Smyrna.
The winners were: Gordon Rennie, 32, first; Dominick Mondi, 33, second; Grace Tucker and Bob Clark, 34, tied for third; and Irene Simpson, Ed Swangler and John Bochnowski, 35, tied for fourth.
