Barlow wins first place in Criers game at Garrison’s Lake
    The Garrison’s Lake 18-hole Ladies played in a Criers Tournament May 21 at Garrison’s Lake Golf Course, Smyrna.

    In the tournament, each lady selected her worst hole and reverted it to a par.

    The winners were: Linda Barlow, first; Irene Simpson, second; and Linda Kurry, Lucy Lange and Ann Williams, tied for third.

Heart and Soul 5K Run/Walk set for June 6 at Lake Forest
    The Second Annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes Heart and Soul 5K Run/Walk will be at 9 a.m., with registration at 8 a.m., at Lake Forest High School, 5407 Killens Pond Road, Felton.

    The run and walk will start at the high school, run through Killens Pond State Park and finally return to the school.

    Awards will be presented to the overall male and female winners, as well as the top-three finishers in 10-year age groups from 14 and younger to 60 and older. The top-three male and female walkers also will receive awards.

    All participants will receive an event T-shirt, and post-event food and refreshments will be provided.

    The cost of registration is $20, and checks should be made payable to Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Garrison’s Lake lists results of holiday tournament
    Ladies and men from Garrison’s Lake played a holiday scramble tournament May 24 at Garrison’s Lake Golf Club, Smyrna.

    The winners were: Jack Powell, Irene Simpson, Tom Massimini and Ann Williams, first team; Chris Birch, Richard Blevins, Linda Barlow and Jack Fairfull, second team; and Ron Clausen, Richard Barlow, Linda Kurry and Lucy Lange, third team.

Chi and Pfeifer win in Jonathan’s Landing tourney
    The men from Jonathan’s Landing participated in a four-ball tournament May 23 at Jonathan’s Landing Golf Club, Magnolia.

    The winners for low-gross scores were: Steve Chi and Dave Pfeifer, first; Barry Stubbs and Bill Denbrock, second; John Metz and Bob Mellin, third; and Bill Hare and Mark Reynolds, fourth.

    The winners for low-net scores were: Tom Wheeler and Rudy Mesnak, first; Earl Simmons and Tom Metz, second; Connie Longshore and Bill Millman, third; and Tony Tallman and Larry Garey, fourth.

Wild Quail lists winners in Memorial Day tournament
    Wild Quail Golf and Country Club hosted a Memorial Day couples scramble-formatted tournament May 25.

    The winners in gross scores were: Jeff and June Allen, and Scott and Terri Brown, first, 59; Bob and Barbara Reed, and Paul and Sue Hufschmidt, second, 65; and Gerry and Vicki Buckworth, and Steve and Beverly Sisson, third, 67.

    The winners in net scores were: Dan and Elise Coar, and Art and Lou Ann Carlson, first, 53; John and Anne Lanovara, and Steve Hanson and Karen Kitchen, second, 54; and Bob and Joan Shuba, and Frank and Deloris Donnely, third, 56.

    Closest to the pin winners were Charlie Grimes, Hole No. 4, 10-feet, 4-inches; and Sue Cox, Hole No. 13, 9-feet.

Allen, Bell, Woodward and Smith take first at holiday tournament
    The Wild Quail Ladies Memorial Holiday tournament was held in a scramble format May 23 at Wild Quail Golf and Country Club, Wyoming.

    The winners were: June Allen, Kathy Bell, Jo Smith and Nancy Woodward, first net; Karen Kitchen, Sue Cox, Mary Jane Ralston and Colleen Stone, second net; and Anne Lanovara, Lynn Egloff and Joan Shuba, first gross.

    Closest to the pin winners were Karen Kitchen, Hole No. 4, 7-feet, 1-inch; and June Allen, Hole No. 13, 5-feet, 10-inches.

Parks and recreation offers kids cardio workout class
    The city of Dover Parks and Recreation Department is offering Kids Cardio Circuit Blast from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 9 to June 30, at the John W. Pitts Recreation Center, Dover.

    The program will help children increase their cardiovascular endurance and body strength, as well as help them become healthier.

    Instructor Susan Albanese from Healthy Bodies For Today will lead the class.

    The activity fee is $25 per child.

AMC Museum to host golf tournament in Magnolia
    The Air Mobility Command Museum will be hosting its fifth annual golf tournament at 11 a.m. Friday, June 5, with lunch and registration, shotgun start at noon, at Jonathan’s Landing Golf Course, Magnolia.

    The entry fee is $85 per golfer, $75 per military officer and $50 per enlisted golfer. Entry fees include greens fee with cart, lunch, dinner and beverages.

    Prizes for a hole-in-one include a car and $10,000. Tournament prizes will be awarded along with dozens of other door prizes.

Mommy and Me Fitness to be held at the Pitts Center
    The city of Dover Parks and Recreation Department is offering Mommy & Me Fitness for mothers with children ages 1 to 3 from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 9 to June 30, at the John W. Pitts Recreation Center, Dover.

    The classes combine strength-training exercise with cardiovascular drills, yoga and abdominal exercises to help improve core strength and lose inches fast.
 

    Instructor Susan Albanese from Healthy Bodies For Today will lead the class.

Diamond State Conference announces all-conference teams
    The Diamond State Conference announced its all-conference teams for the spring sports season, with several students from Saint Thomas More Preparatory and Campus Community High School making the rosters.

    Those named to the girls soccer team were: Kaitlyn Leblanc, STM, Katie Dougherty, STM, Christine Eliason, STM; Skyler Speed, CC; and Jen Walters, STM, first team; Lauren Schimp, STM, Morgan Henderson, STM, Liz Freud, STM, and Joniqua Washington, CC, second team; Elizabeth Lancaster, CC, Olivia Hampton, CC, and Stephanie Sels, STM, honorable mention; and Josh Katz, STM, for coach of the year.

    Those named to the boys lacrosse team were: Derek Tetzner, STM, first team; Mike Carroll, STM; and Greg Schuk, STM, second team; and Randy Sheets, CC, Tyler Harrington, CC, Chris Fullmer, STM, and Tyler Hudson, STM, honorable mention.

Fox takes first at weekly Jonathan’s Landing match
    The Jonathan’s Landing Ladies participated in a Low Gross tournament May 27 at Jonathan’s Landing Golf Course, Magnolia.

    The winners were: Chris Fox, first; Georgia Van Sant and Bernice Bradley, tied for second; and Gracie Tucker, third.

Dover High boys basketball to host youth camp June 8 and 10
    The Dover High School boys basketball team will host its “Sweat Shop” youth basketball camp, for boys and girls ages 6 to 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 8, and Wednesday, June 10, at Dover High, 1 Patrick Lynn Drive.

    Participants will learn about the fundamentals of basketball, including defense, shooting, passing, rebounding and scoring.

    The cost is $10 per child.
