City offers adult and teen field hockey leagues

    The city of Dover Parks and Recreation Department is offering adult and high school indoor field hockey leagues at the John W. Pitts Recreation Center, Dover, with rosters and registrations due Friday, Nov. 28.

    The adult season will consist of a 10-game schedule and single elimination playoffs on Feb. 15 and 22. Games will be played on Sundays beginning Dec. 7.

    The high school season will consist of an eight-game schedule and single elimination playoffs on Feb. 15 and 18. Games will be played on Sundays beginning Dec. 7.

    Required equipment includes a mouth guard, shin guards and non-marking court shoes.

    The adult team entry fee is $325 per team. The high school team entry fee is $260 per team.

Milford High cross country boosters to host 5K

    The Milford High School cross country boosters will host the 10th annual Reindeer Stampede 5K or one-mile walk at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at Milford Millponds Nature Preserve, Abbotts Pond Road, Milford.

    Registration is $10 in advance, $15 the day of the event. All participants get a long-sleeve commemorative T-shirt. The top-three finishers in numerous age groups will get a handcrafted wooden Santa in his sleigh trophy.

Wild Quail hosts John Kitchen Memorial

    The annual John Kitchen Memorial Turkey Shoot was held Nov. 15, at Wild Quail Country Club, Wyoming.

    The winners were: Gross: Chris Wisler, Anne Lanovara, Walt Orth and Neil Postlethwait.

    First Net: Clay Jester, Steve Sisson, Bob Larrimore and Bill Bowden.

    Second Net: Dan Coar, Duane Shuba, George Chabbott and Aaron Mishoe.

    Third Net: Chris Giles, Nick Alessandro, Karen Kitchen and Evan Hensley.

    Fourth Net: Jim Carpenter, Bob Shuba and Mike Nyhus.

    Fifth Net: Chris Noll, Tom Banez and Elise Coar.

    Sixth Net: A.C. Lucas, Charlie Tucker and Mary Barefoot.

    Closest to the pin winners were: Charlie Tucker, hole No. 4; Steve Sisson, hole No. 8; Karen Kitchen, hole No. 13; and Lou Ann Carlson, hole No. 17. All winners were awarded hams.

    Longest drive winners were: Mike Fennemore, senior men; Dan Coar, junior men; Karen Kitchen, senior women; and Elise Coar, junior women. All winners were awarded hams.
