Q After starting the season 8-0, your team hit a two-game losing skid. Did that shake the team’s confidence at all?
A No, I don’t think so. We played Archmere in our second loss, and we played really good in that game but just let it go in the last quarter. We didn’t really dwell on it. We just looked forward to our next game, which was Red Lion, a conference game, and knew we needed to focus on that. And we won and got back on track.
Q What made the games against Cape Henlopen and Archmere so much tougher than the eight before them?
A I think that we weren’t expecting that level of play because we hadn’t played that caliber of team yet so far in the season. So afterwards we knew we just needed to pick it up. Those teams, Archmere and Cape, those are the kinds of teams we’re kind of aspiring to be.
Q You get another big test Feb. 2 when you host St. Mark’s High School. How close are the Ravens to a top-tier team like them?
A They’re definitely the next caliber of team, the next step up. We’ve definitely taken the next couple of steps and I think we’re just about right up there where we can give them a good game.
Q Coming into this season, you were one of the veterans on the team. What’s it been like becoming a co-captain of this team?
A This has been my first leading position here at school. It’s pretty neat but I have a good team to help me with it. I like it. This is a game I know well so I like to talk, help out and put my input in when I need to.
Q Besides leadership what would you say you bring to this team that has made it so successful?
A I’m really defensive. That’s probably my best point is that I play strong defense. I’ve been rebounding better recently too. Earlier in the season that wasn’t my strong point, but the last couple of games I’ve been trying to get better with it.
