Aqua aerobics being offered by county parks and rec
The Kent County Levy Court Parks and Recreation Department is offering Aqua Aerobics at two locations beginning in September.
The first class will run from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Sept. 7 and running for seven weeks at the Modern Maturity Center, Dover.
The other class will be from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays beginning Sept. 8 and running for seven weeks at Lake Forest High School, Harrington.
The fee for each class is $65 and Betsy Gustafson will teach both classes.

Senior program being offered by parks and rec
The city of Dover Parks and Recreation Department is offering Senior Fitness Fun from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 1 to Dec. 22, at the Pitts Center, Dover.
The program will offer various games like washer toss, badminton, ladder toss, pickle ball, bocce, volleyball and more. If participants aren’t interested in the games, they are encouraged to walk the indoor walking track for exercise.
The program is for ages 60 and older, and is free.

Reynolds wins 2010 Jonathan’s men’s championship
The Jonathan’s Landing Men’s Club Championship was held Aug. 21 and 22 at Jonathan’s Landing Golf Course, Magnolia, with Mark Reynolds winning the overall title for 2010.
The winners in the first flight were David Pfeifer, first; Bunky Cochran, second; and Donny Bailey, third.
The winners in the second flight were Cooney Chittakone, first; George Laureta, second; and Michael Wright, third.

Maple Dale 9-Holer game goes to Forest and Reed
The Maple Dale 9-Holers played a Low Putts Tournament Aug. 26 at Maple Dale Country Club, Dover.
The winners were: Marie Forest and Barbara Reed, tied for first; Jeanie DeLeo, second; and Alice Tracy and Barbara Stephens, tied for third.
MMC golf league holds nine-hole championship
The Modern Maturity Center Golf League held its Nine-Hole Championship tournament Aug. 6 and 16 at Garrison’s Lake Golf Course, Smyrna.
The men’s low gross winners were Dominic Mondi and Eli Seviella, tied for first with 93; and Doug Kistle, 96, second.
The men’s low net winners were: Robert Clark, 57, first; Al Blodgett, 58, second; and Bill Hickman, 59, third.
The lady’s low gross winners were: Irene Simpson, 89, first; Pat Firment, 111, second; and Rachel Waldruff, 115, third.
The lady’s low net winner was Fran Dabson with a 48.
The closest-to-the-pin winners were Irene Simpson and Dick Smedley on hole No. 3, and Walt Bernadzikowski and Fran Dabson on hole No. 8.
The longest drive winner was Randy Coe on hole No. 5, while Bob Clark was the closest-to-the-line winner.
Garrison’s ladies play in best-ball tournament
The Ladies at Garrison’s Lake Golf Course played an 18-hole Best-Ball tournament Aug. 26 at Garrison’s Lake Golf Course, Smyrna.
The winners were: Betty Hall, Lucy Lange, Joyce Scuse and Jean Glidden, 81, first; and Linda Kurry, Nancy Cassell, Marilyn McFarlin and Elaine Raab, 83, second.
Johannsen, Zimmerman take weekly senior game
The Par 3 Senior Golf League played its weekly game Aug. 24 at the Dover Par 3.
The men’s winners were: Lyle Johannsen, 28, two birdies, first; Bill Reese, 29, second; and Paul Lombardi, 30, one birdie, third.
The women’s winners were: Louise Zimmerman, 35, first; Donna Felty, 37, second; and Joyce Bush, 41, third.
Net tournament held at Jonathan’s Landing
The Jonathan’s Landing Ladies played a Net tournament Aug. 25 at Jonathan’s Landing Golf Course, Magnolia.

The Wild Quail 9-Hole Ladies played a Four Clubs and a Putter tournament Aug. 24 at Wild Quail Golf and Country Club, Wyoming.
The winners were: Cheryl Walls, 38, first; and Dotty Baker and Jan Zelenke, tied for second with 41.
Lanovara, Barefoot win respective flights at Quail
The Wild Quail 18-Hole Ladies played a Four Clubs and a Putter tournament Aug. 24 at Wild Quail Golf and Country Club, Wyoming.
The winners in the first flight were: Anne Lanovara, 72, first; Jane Heinig, 75, second; and Karen Kitchen, 80, third.
The winners in the second flight were: Mary Barefoot, 77, first; Kathy Mercer, 79, second; and Mary Jane Ralston, 86, third.
HUNTING
Safety program for ages 12 to 18 set for Sept. 14
The Kent County Young Waterfowlers program and hunter safety training will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays through September beginning Tuesday, Sept. 14, at the home of instructor Larry Poore.
The free program will help young hunters, ages 12 to 18, earn their NRA hunter safety certification and Delaware hunter safety card.
The Young Waterfowlers program consists of waterfowl identification, hunting techniques, decoys, calling, water safety, blinds and skeet shooting. Topics of basic hunter education include safe gun handling, ammunition, pistol, muzzleloader, archery, survival skills, dog handling, boating and trapping.
The course will conclude with a hunt at Bombay Hook Wildlife Refuge and a banquet.
