Delaware school administrators to hold annual tourney at Wild Quail
    The Delaware Association of School Administrators is holding its annual Paul Carlson/William B. Keene Golf Tournament with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Monday, June 29, at Wild Quail Golf Club, Wyoming.

    Immediately following the golf tournament there will be a barbeque, which will feature a silent auction.

    Proceeds will help provide scholarships to high school seniors that wish to become educators.

    Deadline for registration is Thursday, June 18.

Taylor takes first at Maple Dale ladies event
    The Maple Dale Ladies Golf Association hosted a Most Pars or Better match June 2, at Maple Dale Country Club, Dover.

    The winners were: Judy Taylor, Flight A; Deb Scheller, Flight B; Joan Heckman, Flight C; and Maud Willim, Flight D.

    The group also participated in a Low Net Match May 30, where there winners were: Willim, first place; and Columbia Porter, second place.

Seven locals place in Milford horseshoe tournament
    The First State Horseshoe Club held a tournament June 6 in Milford.

    Locals who placed were: William E. Wilson, Dover, first, 5-1, and Joe Smith, Magnolia, second, 5-1, in the A Class; Tony Hooks, Harrington, second, 4-2, and Shane Young, Felton, third, 4-2, in the B Class; Dick Seyler, Felton, first, 4-1, and John Fiori, Felton, third, 3-2, in the E Class; and Eddie Tripp III, Dover, third, 2-3, in the G Class.

    Wilson won the tournament champion patch.

Kitchen, Egloff win at weekly Wild Quail 18-holers match
    The Wild Quail 18-hole Ladies participated in a Counting Only the Par 3’s and 5’s match, using half handicap, June 9 at Wild Quail Golf and Country Club, Wyoming.

    The winners in the first flight were: Karen Kitchen, first; Kathy Gesualdo, second; and Brenda Bradley, third.

    The winner in the second flight was Lynn Egloff.

    Closest to the pin on hole No. 8 was Kathy Gesualdo.

Modern Maturity Center hosting two summer golf leagues
    The Modern Maturity Center is hosting two golf leagues this summer, the MMC Par Three Club, which plays at the Dover Par Three on Artis Drive, and the Garrison Lake MMC Club, which plays at Garrison’s Lake Golf Course, Smyrna.

    The par three group played a nine-hole tournament June 9, and the winners were: Bill Reese, 27, first; and Jimmie Robinson, 28, second.

    The Garrison Lake club played a Bingo, Bango, Bongo match June 8, and the winners were: Walt Bernadzikowski, 14, first; Irene Simpson, 11, second; and Dick Bennett, 10, third.

Former Caesar Rodney duo takes first place at Wild Quail tourney
    The Men at Wild Quail hosted a BB of Partners tournament June 6 at Wild Quail Golf and Country Club, Wyoming.

    The winners in the Championship Flight were: Devon Ripley and Chris Blades, first; Tim Freeh and Mark Surtees, second; and Kevin Donnelly and Steve Hoffstadt, third.

    The winners in the first flight were: Steve Chi and Dave Pfeiffer, first gross; Stevie Smith and Ryan Wisler, first net; Skip Willis and Paul Huffschmidt, second net; and Bob Welsh and Dave Cox, third net.

    The winners in the second flight were: John Lanovara and Rick Kent, gross; George Dennis and John Hensley, first net; Anthony Konrad and Mark Woodall, second net; Mike Gorski and Steve MacIntire, third net; Chris Giles and Fred Hawkins, fourth net; and Evan Hensley and Roger Schmidt, fifth net.

    The closest-to-the-pin winners were: Willis, hole No. 4, 10-feet, 6-inches; David Denman, hole No. 8, 17-feet; and Dan Krausz, hole No. 17, 8-feet, 4-inches.

Parks and recreation sponsoring youth basketball camp at Pitts
    The city of Dover Parks and Recreation Department is offering a basketball camp for ages 6 to 12 from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, June 22, to Friday, June 26, at the John W. Pitts Center, Dover.

    The camp will stress the fundamentals and basics of basketball, and participants will be involved in fun drills and skill enhancement activities.

    The cost is $40 per participants, and all campers will receive a T-shirt.

KC Association of Realtors to host golf tournament
    The Kent County Association of Realtors Scholarship Foundation will host the 33rd Annual Golf Tournament to benefit the Gene Auen Memorial and Community Fund at 9:30 a.m. at Jonathan’s Landing Golf Course, Magnolia.

    Participants can register as an individual or with three other golfers for their own foursome.

    The day will open with check-in, followed by tee-off at noon in a scramble format, happy hour at 5:30 p.m. and dinner from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

    The cost of the full day is $85 per person, which includes lunch, green fees, carts, a putting contest, beer and sodas, happy hour with an open bar, dinner and prizes. Those only interested in happy hour and dinner can pay $30.

    The registration deadline is Thursday, June 18.

City offering tennis lessons for adults and youth at Pitts
    The city of Dover Parks and Recreation Department is offering tennis lessons for adults on Thursdays and youth on Tuesdays from June 22 to July 31, at the Dover Park tennis courts.

    In the group lessons, in which participants must be age 7 or older, experienced tennis coaches instruct participants on the basics of tennis.

    Parks and recreation can provide age-appropriate racquets for those who need them.

    The activity fee is $40.

    The Jonathan’s Landing Ladies participated in a 4 Clubs & A Putter match June 11, at Jonathan’s Landing Golf Course, Magnolia.

    The winners in the first flight were: Chris Fox, first; and Towar Whitehead, second.

    The winners in the second flight were: Linda Jarrell, first; and Leah Wheeler, second.

    The winners in the third flight were: Pam Sheldon, first; and Jean Bulley, second.

McFarlin, Barlow and Simpson all place at Garrison’s Lake match
    The 18-hole Garrison’s Lake Ladies participated in a match play for the first nine holes counting the strokes on even holes June 11, at Garrison’s Lake Golf Course, Smyrna.

    The winners were: Marilyn McFarlin, first; Linda Barlow, second; and Irene Simpson, third.

Rally for the Cure tourney held June 13
    The Jonathan’s Landing Ladies Association hosted its annual Rally for the Cure tournament June 13, at Jonathan’s Landing Golf Course, Magnolia.

    The ladies invited men to participate in the tournament that raised more than $1,200 to be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

    The winners were: Barry Stubbs, Peter Doubrava, Jon McDowell and Loretta McDowell, first; Crickett Morris, Ken Kersey, Vicki Rhodes and Kathy Kersey, second; and Don Bates, Tom Rygiel, Teresa Mellin and Bob Mellin, third.

    The other winners were: Mark Reynolds, Rudy Mesnak, Anthony Tallman and Kendall Becke, pink ball; Linda Jarrell and Walter Kirch, closest to the line; Morris and Bob Mellin, longest drive; and Loretta McDowell and George Deering, closest to the pin.
