Winter youth basketball league registration open

    The city of Dover Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting registrations for the annual winter basketball league for youths born from 1993 to 2002.

    The league includes five age groups for children from age 6 to age 15.

    Divisions include Pee-Wee (youth born 2001-2002); Bantam (1999-2000); Mite (1997-1998); Intermediate (1995-1996); and Junior (1993-1994).

    Each league emphasizes fun, safety, participation, skills development and the proper attitude toward competition.

    All participants must pre-register before Saturday, Dec. 6, and no on-site registrations will be accepted. Only registered participants will receive tryout information, and all who pre-register will be placed on a team.

    The league’s schedule will consist of three practices and eight games, all played on Saturdays at the John W. Pitts Recreation Center, Schutte Park, Dover.

    The activity fee is $50. Registrations may be sent to Dover Parks & Recreation, PO Box 475, Dover, DE 19903. Interested participants may also register with a credit card over the phone by calling 674-7541.

Juniors Volleyball Club to hold tryouts

    The Delaware Juniors Volleyball Club will hold tryouts for the 2009 girls club season Sunday, Nov. 16, at Wesley College.
