Turkey hunt pre-registration due Dec. 18
The DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife reminds hunters that lottery applications for six-day turkey hunts on state wildlife areas next spring must be received by Friday, Dec. 18, in the division’s Dover office, 89 Kings Highway, Dover.
Applications will be drawn at random to allow hunters to participate in one of three six-day hunts on state lands during turkey season in April 2010.
To be considered for the lottery, hunters must have completed the Delaware Turkey Hunter Education Class and must hold a valid Delaware hunting license, unless exempt from state licensing requirements.
The application form may be found on page 46 of the 2009 Delaware Hunting and Trapping Guide, or hunters can print the form online at www.fw.delaware.gov/hunting/pages/wildlife.aspx.

Preschool basketball class opens Nov. 18
The city of Dover Parks and Recreation Department will host a Learn-N-Play Basketball Skills for Preschoolers from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Wednesdays, Nov. 18 to Dec. 9, at the Pitts Center, Dover.
The class, for children ages 3 to 5, introduces the basic fundamentals of basketball, including passing, dribbling, control and more.
The activity fee is $18, and parents and children are encouraged to wear sneakers and dress in comfortable clothing.

Volleyball club to hold tryouts
The Central Delaware Juniors Volleyball Club will hold tryouts at 2 p.m. for ages 14 and younger, and 3 p.m. for ages 12 and younger Sunday, Nov. 15, at Saint Thomas More Preparatory, 133 Thomas More Drive, Magnolia.
CDJV is a competitive environment under the guidelines of USA Volleyball for ages 12 and younger through high school seniors to develop their volleyball skills and knowledge for the game.
Teams travel to play in six to eight round-robin tournaments on Saturdays and Sundays, with the season running from January through May.
An information night is scheduled at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Holy Cross Parish.

Soccer alumni set for annual game
The Dover High School Annual Alumni Soccer Game will be at 6 p.m., gates at 5:30 p.m., at Dover High, 1 Patrick Lynn Drive.
Players should bring a blue and a white shirt, as well as $5 to donate to the local food banks and cover referee fees.
