No. 2 Caesar Rodney advanced to the DIAA Boys Lacrosse State Tournament Semifinals, knocking off No. 7 Appoquinimink, 14-7, in the state quarterfinals Saturday afternoon.
The Riders took a three-goal advantage after one quarter and led by four, 8-4 at the halftime break. CR increased their lead to 11-6 after three quarters and outscored the Jags 3-1 in the final quarter to walk away with a seven-goal victory.
Appo hung around thanks to Connor Garrison and Hunter Wolhar, who both finished with three goals apiece in the loss. Nicholas Boinovych also scored for Appoquinimink.
Josh Cosden led the way for the Riders, scoring a game-high seven goals. Demetrius Stevenson, Noah Longest and James Cava each had two goals apiece, while Michael Harrington also scored for CR.
Caesar Rodney moves onto the DIAA State Semifinals on Wednesday night when they’ll matchup with No. 6 Wilmington Friends who advanced past No. 3 DMA in overtime on Saturday.
