The Polytech girls lacrosse team defeated Charter School of Wilmington 13-4 in the first round of the state tournament today, May 17, at the DE Turf complex in Frederica.

Seeded fifth in the tournament, the Panthers built a 9-3 lead at the half and cruised to the win over No. 12 Charter.

Mackenzie Estrada and Madilyn McKay led Polytech with four goals each.

Cecelia Carter scored three, and Claire Fuchs netted two.

McKay had two assists and Fuchs had one.

Polytech outshot Charter 27-23.

Shannon Stephan made 12 saves for the Panthers.
